Ecosystems

Third grade has finished the life sciences unit and created ecosystem dioramas to show the interactions of plants and animals in various environments - desert, tundra, wetland, grassland, saltwater, tropical rain forest, and freshwater ecosystems. We enjoyed looking for pictures on the Interent and finding items to use for the dioramas.

Third Grade Insect Project

Third grade has another project - insects. We created a space bugthat drives a spaceship and eats space rocks, an army bug that live in the desert and helps the soldiers in Iraq, a cookie bug that lives in the candy store but only eats apples, a gopher bug and a panda bug that act just like a gopher and a panda, a candorpion (a candy scorpion)and a basketball bug who lives in the locker room. The bugs all have the characteristics of real insects - 3 body parts, 6 legs, 2 antennae, and possibly wings. Everything else came out of the students' imaginations. We had a blast making these in class!

Sneaker salad??

Third grade has a partnership with the OSU extension office in Kellyville for a 5 week program about health and nutrition.

Ms. Marie Gibbs visited our class for lessons on healthy eating, exercise and the food pyramid which is coordinated to our child nutrition laws.

We also got to make sneaker salad - plant fall vegetables and herbs in old sneakers.

The class learned a lot and really enjoyed the sessions.
